UCS 7 Plus Format

The UCS 7 Plus entrance exam assesses academic strengths and cognitive abilities in January of Year 2. The format includes English (reading comprehension, creative writing, and grammar to evaluate literacy skills, analytical thinking, and expression), Mathematics (a mix of arithmetic, problem-solving, and reasoning tasks to assess numerical fluency and logic), Reasoning (verbal and non-verbal reasoning exercises that test ability to identify patterns and think critically), and Interview & Group Activities (a chance for candidates to showcase communication skills, confidence, and curiosity in a relaxed setting).

Academic Expectations

The UCS 7 Plus exam is taken in January of Year 2, but children are expected to be working at a higher level than the standard curriculum. To be well-prepared, pupils should demonstrate confident comprehension skills and the ability to infer meaning from written passages, creativity and structure in writing using varied vocabulary and sentence forms, competence in core mathematical operations including fractions, problem-solving, and reasoning, and logical thinking with the ability to work through challenges independently. UCS values intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm as much as current attainment.
